A proposed to W on a dark winter night in Iceland. He had everything ready. Far away land in Iceland – here. Ring in the pocket – checked. Clear, dark sky – luckily, they got it. He was just waiting for the one, unpredictable thing – the northern light… When A shared this story, I didn’t know how rare it was to have everything aligned for you to witness such a beautiful natural phenomenon as the aurora. (Until much later, when we chased the same thing in the remote countryside of Iceland, but that’s a story for another time.) As soon as it appeared in the black backdrop, A was on his knee when W turned around.
Fast forward to a year later, A and W tied the knot at their Somerville home on a gorgeous autumn day. The weather couldn’t be better, and neither could the crowd. The wedding was officiated by their best friend, with a handful of their dearest people. Stories were exchanged and laughter was shared. On a day like this, I couldn’t help feeling grateful to be here.
